Commonly known as The Nature Island, Dominica juts up from the glistening waters of the Caribbean to serve as a beacon for world revelers and travelers seeking solace in a place that time has forgotten. One of the best-kept secrets of the Caribbean, the island is a verdant tapestry of lush rainforests, towering mountains, rushing rivers, welcoming waterfalls, and volcanic wonders—everything you need to rejuvenate your mind and body.

Fort Young Resort

Where city, reef and rainforest converge, Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort is a full-service, heritage hotel on the Caribbean Sea. Their coveted oceanfront placement amidst Dominica’s vibrant capital, Roseau, provides unmatched access to the heart of the island, while their modern, boutique-style accommodations and peerless amenities complete an idyllic Caribbean holiday. From seaside al fresco dining, entertainment and duty-free shopping on the resort’s waterfront, to the neighboring French Quarter’s Saturday markets and unfathomable adventures at your doorstep — waterfall hikes, hot spring soaks, rainforest walks and world-class scuba diving right off the dock — Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort is your gateway to experiencing Dominica by both land and sea.

The dramatic mountains you can traverse on land across Dominica are mirrored in the topography of our underwater dive sites. Cliff faces plunge into the Caribbean Sea and descend straight down 1500 feet, pinnacles rise up from the surrounding depths almost to the surface and volcanic ridges slope off into the deep blue water.

The dive sites are teeming with thriving, healthy coral reefs and unique schools of fish, while barracudas, turtles and stingrays frequently swim through dive groups along the reef rim, causing a delightful photographic frenzy. Comprised of gnarled volcanic ledges, crevices and swim-throughs, the reefs are a refuge for a myriad of small critters considered rare in other destinations. Here, seahorses and frogfish are almost guaranteed sightings for divers on a weeklong package. Other rarer critters like batfish, flying gurnards, yellow head jawfish, upside-down jellyfish and flamingo tongue snails can be found if you carefully search the reefs.

With Dominica’s incredibly warm seas and vibrant marine life, along with uncrowded dive sites and an excellent dive staff, Fort Young Dive is amongst the most premier diving operations in the world.

We ventured to this island for the first time in 2016. The highlights from that trip was the Champagne Reef. In about 15 feet of water, you will see volcanic vents spew forth hot water and bubbles creating a smiliar effect to diving in champagne! You can put your hand over the bubbles and feel the warmth, a truley unique dive experience! We also dove Scott's Head Pinnacle which sits on a volcanic crater, allowing divers to swim through the crater wall to the interior. The wall is covered in gorgonians, giant barrel sponges, and whip corals, and it is often patrolled by pelagics like horse-eye jacks, barracudas, turtles, yellowtail snappers and ceros.

Indulge in the fresh and flavorful cuisine of the Nature Island while dining al fresco at Roseau’s only seaside restaurant. Here, panoramic ocean views are paired with inventive dishes that showcase the natural bounty of the island, including locally-sourced ingredients straight from nearby farms and, of course, the Caribbean Sea. Among the top-rated culinary experiences on the island, The Palisades Restaurant delivers on its reputation as the must-try Dominica dining destination. Revel in a delectable array of Caribbean dishes such as locally-caught Lion Fish Bon Femme, our signature Fort Nut soup blended with carrot, ginger and callaloo coconut from our preferred island farm or, perhaps, the Char Grilled Lobster with lemon butter and seasonal greens.

Warner's Bar

Beneath the Palisades Restaurant, with a view to match, Warner’s Bar combines a relaxing and casual seaside setting with cocktail sophistication. Warner’s Bar’s staff offers five-star service and a range of signature cocktails, inclusive of our legendary rum punch—a prized recipe that’s always on tap.
