The Course

The PADI Divemaster course can be broken down into the following 3 components:

Knowledge Development: E-Learning

In this part of the course, you will learn a foundation of basic concepts and skills, as well as gain confidence that will help you to become a successful divemaster. You will achieve this by working independently through the PADI Divemaster eLearning program. This program will cover important topics including your role as a PADI Divemaster, assisting with student divers, supervising dive activities, proper risk management, and overall diver safety.

Water and Dive Skill Assessment

In this part of the course, you will be tested on your skill and comfort level in the water. You will need to demonstrate your ability to perform PADI dive skills at a proficient level. You will also need to complete a series of water skill exercises, including swim assessments, treading water, and tired diver tow.

Practical Assessment and Internship

In this part of the course, you will be working closely with our instructors to gain valuable experience working with divers and students of all different skill levels. From assisting with entry level students, to leading experienced divers, you will learn how to approach each situation to keep other divers safe and comfortable in the water. You will learn about the diving programs offered by PADI and the training standards and requirements for each, while also learning skills such as managing a dive site and giving dive and safety briefings.

Prerequisites

• Must be 18 years old
• Have logged at least 40 dives to start (60 must be logged by completion)
• PADI Rescue Diver or an equivalent certification
• CPR & First Aid within 24 months
• Medical Form saying you are fit to dive signed by your physician

Scheduling

The scheduling of this course is very flexible. This is due to the nature of the course, which has components and course requirements that have scheduling and logistical concerns. The flexible scheduling will also allow you to complete the course on your own timeframe, with people who have more time and availability being able to complete the course requirements sooner. A reasonable time frame for most people to complete the course would be 1 year.
A common schedule for students is to start during the fall or winter months, allowing them to complete the knowledge development and confined water training during the offseason. Then once the water warms up during the spring and summer months they complete their ocean training. Here is an example of a possible class schedule…

Confined Water

Weekend 1: Open Water Class
Weekend 2: Day 1- Try Scuba/ Refresher  Day 2 – Swim Tests/ Water Exercises
Weekend 3: Day 1- PADI Skill Circuit  Day 2: Rescue Skills/ Swim Tests
Weekend 4: Day 1- Snorkeling / Water Skills  Day 2- Swim test if needed

Open Water

Weekend 1: Open Water Class
Weekend 2: Continue Education Course
Weekend 3: Day 1- Deep Dive and Search & Recovery Skills   Day 2- Group Dive
Weekend 4: Day 1- Discover Scuba Diving Additional Dive  Day 2- Discover Local Diving

PADI E-Learning: $312 (Paid to PADI.com)
Course Tuition: $750 (Paid to us at the time of registration)
Dive Master Slates $80.00 (Paid to us at the time of registration)
