What is Nitrox

This is not a voodoo gas as people once thought. With nitrox we have simply replaced some of the nitrogen that was in the air we breathed and replaced it with oxygen. The result is a higher percentage of oxygen and a lower percentage of nitrogen. This gas is not meant for extremely deep dives, it is actually most effective when diving in the 50 to 100 foot range. However, as with everything else in life, there are some trade offs as increased Oxygen levels result in some new considerations. This course will teach you how to manage these considerations and maximize your safety and bottom time.

The Course

You will start by completing the online Enriched Air Diver Course at PADI.com. Once you have completed the online portion, you will then come to us to finish the course by completing the practical assessment of analyzing gas (1 hour long). The PADI Enriched Air Diver Course is a short yet comprehensive course that will teach the basics of Nitrox diving. You will learn how to choose the appropriate mix for a specific planned dive and determine the oxygen exposure limits after a dive using either your own computer or ours. You will also learn how to analyze your mix to ensure accuracy and safety. We will answer your questions and dispel the myths about diving with mixed gas. At the end you will be able to safely extend your bottom time and increase your margin of safety while diving. At the completion of the course you will receive a PADI Enriched Air Diver Certification Card.

Prerequisites

Must hold a Open Water Diver certification or higher with a minimum age of 12 years old.
Must complete Medical Statement

Gear Needed

We will provide the enriched air cylinders and all necessary equipment. If you own your own dive computer we suggest you bring it with you to the practical assessment so you become accustomed working with your own gear.
