Who Are the Bay State Council of Divers?
The Bay State Council of Divers, Inc. (commonly known as the BSC) was founded in the early 1970’s to represent the organized divers in Massachusetts. The Bay State Council of Divers is a member of the Underwater Society of America which is composed of other dive councils, clubs and independent divers throughout North America. The Bay State Council of Divers, which is managed by a Board of Directors, meets approximately four times a year. The Bay State Council of Divers membership is made up of over 700 individual divers, clubs, dive shop owners, charter boat captains, scuba instructors and other interested persons throughout the state.
How They Need Your Help
BSC and the diving community in Massachusetts are greatly concerned about the continuing loss of public parking in coastal communities to allow for shore access. Many communities are restricting parking to Resident Only. This prevents other citizens (not just divers) from using the public beaches. The BSC is seeking water sport enthusiasts input and support to remedy this siutation.
BSC will be hosting a meeting at the Boston Sea Rovers Show on Sunday March 12th from 1-4pm in the Essex Room. At this meeting they hope to coordinate efforts in hopes of reversing this situation.
We all know how frustrating it is to find parking for shore diving. This a way you can make a difference. We hope to see many local divers at this meeting!
