Aqualung Safety Notice

Safety Notice

Select Powerline Inflators

Aqua Lung is conducting a voluntary product update of select Powerline inflators. Powerline inflators are found on all Aqua Lung Buoyancy Compensators and the Apeks Black Ice Buoyancy Compensator. If you have purchased an Aqua Lung BCD/Apeks Black Ice since January 1, 2015, it will need to be inspected to determine if it meets the specific criteria and requires updating. Aqua Lung is concerned that a failure may occur during a dive, causing the Powerline to continue inflating after the inflation button has been released, increasing the potential of an uncontrolled ascent. While there have been reports of this occurring underwater, there have not been any reported injuries, and Aqua Lung believes that a voluntary safety notice is the safe and prudent thing to do.

Inflators beginning with an H date code need to be serviced – Requires an Update

Inflators with an H date code with 2-dots has been updated at the factory – No further action required

Button covers with a center dot indicate the inflator has been updated – No further action required

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using their BCs with Powerline inflators with a date code beginning with an H. Bring the BCD to your nearest authorized Aqua Lung Dive Retailer or Dive Center. They will be able to update your Powerline inflator for you. The replacement is made under warranty and you will not incur any charges.

Consumer Contact – for additional assistance please call (800) 775-3483 or call us at Undersea Divers at 978-927-9551.

New Products! Camera Gear, Lights & Fins!

We have another batch of new products for you. Check out the items below, if you have any questions on products never hesitate to get in touch with us.

ROAM Headlamp by Princeton Tech

Underwater Head Lamp

The original dive headlamp is back, brighter than ever! Decades ago, PTec introduced a diveable headlamp. Next, we shifted focus to brighter handheld lights. Eventually the chatter joined into one request too loud to ignore: “Bring back the SCUBA headlamp!” We began with our dive-proven platform, adding a 100 lumen LED module and custom optic that delivers the focused beam that divers need. Roam can be used as a standard headlamp, and our custom adapter allows mounting on many masks or any GoPro-style mount. Roam promises reliable, hands-free light, now brighter and more efficient.

SeaLife Aquapod Mini

Compact extendable underwater monopod

The SeaLife AquaPod Mini, like the longer AquaPod, lets you to get your camera close to both land and sea creatures while maintaining your distance, and allows you to get that perfect shot of yourself amidst all of the action.
Rotate the camera on the AquaPod Mini to easily take self-portrait images. Easy to use and hold steady, the AquaPod Mini extends from 15.5 inches (39cm) to 38 inches (97cm). It is particularly travel friendly because its collapsed size easily fits into a briefcase or carry-on luggage.
To shoot still images with a SeaLife camera and the AquaPod Mini, simply set the camera to “SPY” mode, allowing it to automatically shoot at set time intervals. For videos, set the camera to video mode and start shooting. For best results, make smooth and gentle movements so the lens stays focused on your subject.

July Newsletter

Hello Divers!

We hope you had a fun June, we sure did! We completed PADI Open Water Courses, AOW courses and started our boat diving! Our local shore diving group called the Dive Society reached record numbers for our past couple of dives which we are thrilled about. There has been a lot of marine life out and about making the dives extra fun. People have been catching lobsters and spearing some nice sized flounders. We have spotted a lump fish that has been hanging out at Old Garden. We have spotted a few Sea ravens recently. Nudibranchs are still out but not as plentiful it seems and skates and flounder are out and about as well.

We received new products this month which you can read about below. We have new masks, hooded vests for layering, dry bags which are great for the boat or shore diving and new travel bags. We are always getting in new items in the summertime so stop by the shop to see what’s new.
For the month of July we are gearing up for more Open Water courses, AOW classes and the start of our Rescue classes. We have 2 boat dives this month which we are looking forward to. There are spots left on each boat, call the shop to register. You can find more details about the boat dive schedule below.

Our schedule is normal for the July 4th weekend. We will be closed on Monday the 4th as usual with weekend hours being the same. We hope you all have an enjoyable and safe 4th of July and we hope to see you soon! Now is the time to dive, get in that water!
Happy Diving!
