ABOUT BONAIRE

For over 30 years Undersea Divers has been running trips to this “Diver’s Paradise” and divers have been coming back year after year. If you’ve never been to Bonaire, don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience pure diving freedom. Bonaire’s pristine reefs and diverse marine life are unique to the Caribbean. Because the waters around Bonaire are designated as an official marine park, diving Bonaire is like diving the Caribbean the way it used to be – untouched and unspoiled. The island’s location in the south Caribbean gives it an arid climate with little rainfall; consequently, the waters are exceptionally clear of silt, calm, and divable year round. It is an ideal destination for underwater photographers. Water temps average a warm 78–84° with visibility often over 80 feet and frequently up to 150 feet. Few destinations offer the photographic opportunities that you will find in Bonaire. With incredible visibility, abundant fish life and healthy reef system, wide angle opportunities are naturally abound. But it is the bounty of macro life visible both day and night, that truly sets Bonaire apart.

ABOUT THE DIVI FLAMINGO

Divi Flamingo Beach Resort & Casino reflects the casual mood and rich natural beauty of Bonaire, with a modern and comfortable atmosphere. “Barefoot Elegance” is the theme of this resort, one of the island’s best! There are 150 rooms, each tastfully decorated in an island theme and each with a sheltered patio or balcony. All rooms are air-conditioned and have daily maid service. The resort features 2 restaurants, beach bar and 2 pools with many lounge areas at the waters edge. There is an onsite casino if you want to try your luck! The resort is closely situated to the downtown area with an easy 10 minute walk to shops and restaurants.

WHAT IS THE DIVING LIKE?

The waters around Bonaire are home to more than 500 species of fish, as well as more than 120 kinds of coral. These waters have been designated a national park and are managed by the Bonaire National Park, which protects them year round. Divers and snorkelers alike can gaze in wonder as colorful creatures, large and small, feast on a reef that serves as an underground water banquet table. Because of Bonaire’s unique location in the south Caribbean near Aruba, Bonaire’s climate is arid with little rainfall, making the waters clear, calm and diveable year round. Water temperatures average a warm 78-84 degrees and water visibility often averages over 100 ft. The marine life you will find are green and spotted morays, turtles, spotted eagle rays, frogfish, seahorses, peacock flounder and so many kinds of fish.

ACCOMMODATIONS

STUDIO GUESTROOM

We prefer the studio rooms which are steps away from the dive shop and pier and have recently been fully renovated.  Each studio offers two queen-size beds, one queen sleeper sofa, a kitchenette, a dining area, one bathroom, and a patio or balcony with pool views.

DINING

The Flamingo Beach Resort has 2 restaurants on the property. PUREOCEAN is an open-air restaurant with calming views of the Caribbean where you can enjoy a full breakfast buffet each morning. Choose from both hot and cold breakfast options, including a full American breakfast.

The Chibi Chibi Restaurant and Bar is open for lunch and dinner daily, it is a colorful, romantic gathering spot where Executive Chefs Selsio de Palm & Antonio Bruni and their team serve a wide variety of traditional, continental cuisine as well as fresh local seafood. Guests dining at the Chibi Chibi are entertained by a multitude of tropical fish in the surf just below the restaurant.

PUREOCEAN Beachside Bar is a full-service bar for beachside drinks. Order your favorite cocktail from the bar menu and enjoy American-style snacks and light fare.

While we enjoy eating at the Divi, Bonaire is known for its great restaurants. We recommend hitting the town for some incredible eats, we known the best spots to go so don’t hesitate to ask!
